Notes This fabric is rather bold for me - and not a colour I would usually choose. It is a Liberty Tana Lawn cotton, so was very nice to sew. Fabric felt a little too lightweight for this style, so the dress was fully lined with a pink cotton and has a deep hem facing to add weight to the skirt.

The bodice section came out rather small, I ordered slightly larger than my actual bust measurement but the bodice was too tight. A lot of work was involved in rescuing this project - unpicking and extending the plackets to the full length of the dress, opening the placket seams to insert a zipper. The zipper was quite a chunky, open-ended one (really for a jacket, I think) but I liked the large silver puller on it, so I shortened the zipper tape to remove the other opening end. A lot of very time-consuming hand stitching, with tiny stitches......
This has added the extra centimetres needed to make the dress comfortable to wear, so I am pleased with it now.

I like this style so will probably redraft the pattern pieces to add in some extra ease and make another version with the original button placket.

Don't know what happened there, unfortunately this site will not allow me to delete all the duplicate comments - sorry about that!

    Thank you everyone!
Anne-Marie, we have a saying in the Uk (I don't know whether this translates internationally) that "Patience is a virtue" - I was certainly feeling very "virtuous" when I succeeded in rescuing this dress!!!

You are very patient! But the result is worth it!

Those extra surprises are familiar to me too. Sometimes (read usually) I have to think about how to solve the challenges. Overall, your dress is very pretty.
