| Note | I saw a photo recently of someone wearing a shirt with a bowtie extension from the collar stand. I thought this pattern would be a good fit for the style. Last time I made this shirt I found the sleeves too short and the arm movement restrictive as the armholes are too low and the sleeve head too fitted. This time around I lengthened the arms by about an inch, shortened the sleeve placket. I also raised the underarm and changed the sleeve head appropriately. I used this video at https://www.threadsmagazine.com/2016/01/25/video-how-to-modify-sleeves-for-better-arm-mobility to learn how to do it. I still feel that the shirt gapes at the button placket more than I like. I took out the darts so the shirt would not be so fitted which helped. However I think I will have to put in extra buttons. The attached bowtie? Did not work out quite how I imagined, but it is a talking point when I wear the shirt. |
