Notes It’s summer and very hot here, and I needed a wrap that I could throw on in the morning instead of a dressing gown. I’ve I had this piece of polyester crêpe in my stash for some time, just waiting for the right pattern, and this was it.

I lengthened the pattern by 3 inches, and made a 1” full bottom adjustment, which is normal for me with Lekala patterns.

The pattern is a faux wrap - it has a back zipper, and has 2 front sections - one is half a front, and the other is a larger half a front plus an extension panel to make the wrap part. The 2 are overlapped and both sewn into the same front facing, so it doesn’t open at the front.

I did away with the back zip, and cut the back as one piece on the fold. I wasn’t sure that the 2 front panel pieces would give me the coverage I needed, so I cut 2 of the larger front pieces with the extension, and cut a separate facing for each. I sewed the 2 front facing sections to the back facing, and sewed the 2 front panels to the back panel at the side seams. I then attached the facing as normal.

I turned the hem up by 1 inch, and top stitched the waist, both front panels and the hem in matching red thread.

I attached 2 buttons to the front panels for decoration, and attached trouser hooks on the inside to both leading edges to close it. The skirt now wraps nicely across my front, and doesn’t gape or reveal anything I don’t want to reveal! It gives great coverage, even when sitting.

Highly recommended, especially for beginners with the modifications I made to the back and front - no zip, no buttonholes. It doesn't even need to fit perfectly on the waist as it can be tightened or loosened simply by moving the trouser hooks. I Love this skirt!
