| Notes | I’m so delighted to finally have my own sloper! I decided to experiment with it and compare it with a commercial pattern, only to discover that the commercial pattern would never have fitted me properly, yet alone have been comfortable.. Thank goodness for Lekala! I used the sloper pattern up until my waist, but ommitted the front waist dart and I then added a tiered skirt which were 2 rectangles on the top, making each successive tier one-third larger than the previous one. I borrowed the sleeves from my Lekala 2509 pattern, because the sloper sleeves were in 2 parts. I could have left the waist dart in but it was very small in my case. The back of the bodice is identical to the sloper, I left in the back and shoulder darts, and a small opening in the back neck to put the dress over my head. I may be a little late to this style of dress, (it's been on my "to do" list since 2019) but I’ve finally made one, and I’m absolutely thrilled! the fabric is a very thin rayon challis, it was only $4 per metre but if you bought 3metres, they took 50% off, so the whole dress only cost $6 Australian! I lined the bodice with an old white sheet, to "backlight" the fabric to give it more colour. the whole dress was a practice model Thank you, Lekala, for making sewing that fits so much more achievable. I’m very grateful! |
