| Notes | A very nice pattern I made out of very light raincoat fabric. I lined it with quite heavy fleece which was i think not ideal in hindsight. As someone else had mentioned, it's quite weird that the long strip that goes over the zipper (placket) has no velcro or buttons so i added velcro. The measurements are good, a little wide maybe. I am 1.68 and size 38 euro and I used 4 meters of fabric, also because my foxes had to be upright in the bottom skirt part. Most fabrics are only 1.40 wide so I had to segment those pattern pieces and add extra seam allowance. So the skirt parts aren't one- piece as in the pattern unfortunately. If you have a fabric without a pattern you probably can do it without cutting up the pattern pieces. To make it waterproof, I used waterproof seam tape but that is applied with heat and you have to be very careful with this raincoat fabric. I'm not too pleased overall but that's not the patterns fault as I've seen many beautiful renditions of this coat on this page. It's just that I loved the fox pattern on the raincoat fabric but it's was really too thin to work well. Lining it was the best option, but doesn't help the pattern. I had fun experiencing with raincoat fabric and I will happily never use this again. If I find a heavier raincoat fabric that is waterproof (not softshell) and doesn't need lining, I'll be tempted to make it again |
