Note I am very - very pleased with the model, as well as with the pattern. Fits like a glove!

I received this bit of fabric via - via a friend. It is kind of a ‘goblin’ or ‘tapestry’. I immediately fell in love with the pattern, as well as with the fabric: a lovely marriage! Alas, it was not nearly enough to fix this waistcoat (don’t I L-O-V-E waistcoats!) So I had to come up with something, but plenty of lemons in my immagination to squeeze, and make juice out of it…

As I did lack a lot of needed fabric, I made use of satin out of my stock to match it, as fabric for the entire back was lacking, as well as for the front neckline facing, so the satin served it’s purpose perfectly. I had to spend 45 minutes to turn an relay to have the parts I needed (near the shoulder I had to cut the front facing and assemble it again, but hey… who’ll notice…)

The upper neck facing at the back I did skip, and made one piece of it.

There is, in my opinion, one flaw in the pattern: it has double welted pockets, but the inside of the pockets are failing, so I created those myself. Or, if you do not want to create those, you can sew by hand to close these. I made a button-loop in the middle, as otherwise such double welted pockets (unless these are small pockets) will remain open too easily.

Every seam has a top stitch in red yarn, as in my mind it suited this model. Made use of 5 front buttons instead of 4, as mine are only 2 cm wide.

If you are looking for a pattern of a waistcoat, then this is the one. In the near future I intend to create a ‘Victorian’ version of it.
