| Note | Bought the fabric at an outlet. Most people would make run by the look of it, but of course in my third eye I saw something different, and the ‘style maverick’ in me made a suit out of it. Worse: my husband did not even giggle (as he useually does with my kind of fabric choices). He just nodded his head in disbelieve, but in my heart I knew that all’s well that ends well. And I do not forsake a challenge. Happy I disreguarded opinions, as - once finished the suit - I am truly happy with it!!! The fabric is kind of a ‘deco’-fabric, sturdy but soft at the same time, but it frays immensely. The collar is made of vintage sturdy velvet, half of the front facing is the main fabric, as the velvet would have been too sturdy to create buttonholes. Normally I would have made bound buttonholes (love those!) but I did not dare as the fabric was fraying too much. The buttons are vintage ones of my collection (I have a button fetish). The jacket is fully lined. It is a pattern without any issues, so I did not alter any of the pattern. As I had fabric leftover I made trousers as well. A free pattern by Mood: MDF428 Sorrento Set: https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/sorrento-set-free-sewing-pattern/ I intended to make a waistcoat as well, but I had no fabric left at all. Will try to lay my hand on another same panel, if possible, in order to do so. |
