| Notes | The pattern is meant for a wrapped vest: only a front an back neck facing, the hem turned and stitched, just a button sewn directly on the vest to hold the waistband, and that’s it. Lekala seldom uses lining. I decided to do it differently, and take the approach as if it was a jacket of a suit (I had already made trousers of the same fabric anyway). The fabric: 54% Polyester - 44% Wool - 2% Lycra. The lining is ‘Tassal’ What did I change? I used lining for the inner part of the vest, made a pleat at the center back. As such a small button wil tear the fabric when it has to hold the waistband, I decided to use a large (single) button I had scored at a thrift store one week earlier (thinking “One day it will come to use”. That day came sooner than I could imagine then). To hold the large button I made a placket which I did sew in the breast seam. As the button was so large, and a machine made buttonhole in that size would be just ugly, I decided to create a welted buttonhole, which wasn’t easy in this stretchy fabric). As the button was so large, I also had to make the waistband wider. As the waistband was wider, I made a waistband-loop at the center-back. Shoulder pads and shoulder gussets (a ‘moustache’ in the shape of a boomerang) are added to complement the beautiful sleeve head. The rest of the ‘vest’ I left as it is.
