Notes | This blouse I will name ‘My Murphy’s law blouse’. Cause all which could go wrong, went wrong. Not Lekala’s fault, this one is entirely mine! The blouse I made of leftover ‘net curtain’, I received once from a friend. As I am kind of a miser, I do not like things to go to waste. It was a small piece, but I was very fond of the ‘washed colors’, so I had to imagine what I could make of it. Came to the conclusion that this pattern would be the chosen one. Great! It was the only thing which did not go wrong. From then on it beats me what went wrong. I am meticulous, so mistakes are seldom made. My guess is that I have laid the pattern onto the reversed fabric, as the folds had to be made towards the button-row, otherwise the collar could not be stitched on. Mistake 1. As the fabric is so extremely thin, I decided to fully line the blouse with a very thin cotton. This was mistake 2… I was mumbling and fumbling as it had to be shoved underneath the facing (to make the fabric stronger in order to create buttonholes). In order not to be hindered, I first made the folds, stitched the shoulder seams and left the rest untouched. Mistake 3… As I must have measured the mid of the fabric wrongly, cause as I went on stitching the side seams I came to the supprise that the back was way shorter then the front. I could not correct this, as I even did not have any shreds left… So this blouse is the ‘bummer’ of my career, but at least I tried to make the best of ‘Murphy’s law’. I will make the blouse again, leaving out all my errors, as the pattern itself is great. |
