Notes The fabric used is a mix of Polyester 85%, 15% linnen. The top collar, welted pockets, flap and lining is satin.

It is in fact a vest, but my fabric was rather thin (210 g/m²), so it would not hold it’s shape. I made use of fusible interfacing in front and back as if I was making a jacket of a suit. The satin did not get any, given the fact that the satin used was rather sturdy.

The vest is easy to make, but as I wanted to have it fully lined (I really dislike a bare inside with dangling pockets which are visible), but this was hell to pay! I had to draw the lining pattern myself, which was very easy for the back - as I had to exclude the facing at the front, the front was ‘Nemesis’. I had to cut the lower sidepart wider where the dart was made, and alter it when the vest was nearly finished, except the hem. For the welted pockets I decided to shove the flap underneath, this gives it somewhat more ‘cachet’.

For the buttons and buttonholes I had to work differently, as I have a ‘bloated belly’ and the area over there made the vest looking very square. So I decided to add buttonholes, first to avoid that square outlook, second as the vest refused to fall into a reversed V-shape. This was the way I overcame this ‘flaw’. I only had 5 of those buttons (which -in my view- did match perfectly), so I had to skip the upper buttons. But the ‘shape’ was saved.

I am happy with the pattern. Can’t review the given instructions as I seldom read these. I just sail my own way, as the ‘subject’ requires. Mostly the garment itself knows best.
