Notes | Already listed by me a fortnight ago. Then I had to change the collar, as there was no way I could achieve this with the original collar. The instructions made me none the wiser… Then I got a tip from Sewing pattern review member “Kiwirose” (many thanks!). So I tried again, got me some further down the line, but I still got stuck. When schoolholidays were over I took the cursed blouse with to sewingclass. The teacher had never seen – nor ever heard of such collar, but -as she said- she played a lot with Lego when she was young, and therefor had a lot of technical insight (I have as well, but this collar beats me). She looked at the collar from every angle, scratched her hair, and claimed “We’ll take this ‘monster’ step by step. She did, and how! She told me what to do, and to make sure to remember how to: I took a pix at each step (which I later on processed on how to do it). Not that it is crystal clear, but at least it will guide you to beat this collar. The fabric I bought is a cotton, the contrast collar I bought at a market, as the blouse in the overall basic color does not suit my skin complexion. And lucky me, it even made the blouse more distinguished, as the collar clearly shows that it now has a shape of a heart. Of my endless collection of buttons -as my neighbour always mentions: you have a button fetish (mea culpa, but it’s true) I chose buttons to match (not invisible, but neither ‘right in your face). Am I happy I did master this ‘For the first time biting the dust’ blouse? Yes, YES, YES, YES! But not in a thousand years I would have succeeded if it wasn’t with the help of my teacher. So: endless gratitude to her! |
