Notes I bought this fabric for 1 euro, laying to gather dust since nearly a year. Suddenly somehow it ended up on top of a pile, begging: “Please, please: sew me!”. The pattern I already had (just still the effort needed to assemble it). As the day before I had bought fabric for trousers and fabric for an accompanying vest, I granted the fabric’s wish and started sewing.

For some instructions I went my own way: as Lekala seldom uses lining, and nearly always just ‘folding over and stitch a hem’, or ‘make use of bias’. (Guess Lekala has stocks in a Bias fabric). As a seamstress with honour I refuse to make use of bias if I can avoid it. These beautiful sleeves with cut-outs and visible bias when wearing it is above my consent. So I made use of Tassal lining and did double the whole lot. I came into trouble with the front neckline cut-out. The space between the upper cut-out spot and the neckline itself is far too small, as I found out too late, as I had already cut the fabric. Moreover, I did place the front fabric reverse on the lining, stitched and clips already cut. The embroidery was reversed. So I did unpick the lot, which meant when sewing a second time I had to make my seam some wider, and therefor only 1 cm left between the neckline and the front cut-out. Had to sew some cm by hand. Thought about ornamenting (actually: masking) this with a tiny ribbon, but considering it this would be too ‘Brigitte Bardot’- kind of spin off, so I decided to mask this ‘problem area’ with a button I used at the blouse. Much better.

Did I change more? Yes, I made buttonholes and buttons where the sleeve cut-outs meet each other, so the sleeves would fall more ‘fluently natural’. Made a buttonloop at the neckline backsplit. The rest of the blouse is made as given by Lekala.

Happy with my blouse, and even fabric left to create a top (or something else).
