Notes I wanted to make a Chinese-kind-of-like set, without having the outlook of a waitress in a Chinese restaurant. I wanted to make it in a fabric which had a Chinese-outlook, but without the always present dragons-tigers-mahjong-or pagodas-figures woven in it. Intended to buy satin-kind-of fabric, but then I noticed this brocade in a dark sea-green color with woven in ashes of roses waves. It wasn’t exactly Chinese, but had enough feel of it to make my Chinese dress. (Am also making a jacket out of this fabric, which is originally a leather jacket, but creating enough hacks to give it a ‘Chinese feel’. Will list this one next week, as not finished yet).

I made use of pink piping and sea-green ‘frog toggles’, as both different colors are matching the fabric, and all-in one color would make the dress too bland. The collar is lined with green satin, the dress itself is fully lined with ‘Tassal’ lining. I also created small splits at the side- and back seam. As front closures never ‘close’ fully enough to outcome not fluently falling fabric, I chose to place an invisible zipper at the back. As I have ‘bulky’ upper arms I did lengthen the sleeves (also piping at its hem).

I would not advice this pattern for novices. Am I happy with the pattern? Yes. Am I happy with my dress? Yes.
