笔记 Made in Punta di Roma (Ponte knit).

I immediately did like this model very much. Wanted to give a vintage feel to it.
Some time it took, as -after cutting the fabric some time passed by- as I was short in time to start sewing it. When after some weeks I went to the haberdashery for the piping, where I found out I forgot to cut the second front. Coming home the fabric was without a trace. When after some weeks I did found it, I lost track of the pattern, once traced that one I forgot where I put the already cut pieces. It was an uphill struggle, but finally, some days ago, I did manage to join all, so I finally could finish my project.

Must say I did change some, and so you will have to change some: the sleeves do not fit the give, length of the armhole, plus the armhole is too narrow. Solution is: cut away 2 cm of the armhole at the armpit, and raise the top of the sleeve by 3 cm. As I had already cut the sleeves, I did not want to loose this fabric, so I did cut off some of the top of the sleeve (below the armskye) and thus created a new one. I had to adjust the edge of the front seam at the buste, as this angle was not possible in this stretchy fabric with piping added to it. Did I change more? Yes, but this is personal taste: the dress was too wide open at the neck, to my personal taste, so I did raise the neckline (front and back). I did line the dress, as in the Punta di Roma fabric every line of my underwear was visible… T even had to reverse the lining, so the seams were at the inside (touching the body, as even those seams would have been visible. Made sleeves in the lining as well, but had to remove these again as the outer fabric lost it’s shape with this. So the lining is the shape of the dress, included a small pleat at the center back.

The dress is ornamented with the piping and vintage buttons.

At the beginning I did not like my project very much, as to me it did look like an apron, but further on it started to grow on me. Now, finished, I even do like this dress a lot.

This model is not for novices, as it takes a lost of basting due to the piping (and even more in stretchy fabric), but more experienced seamstress will succeed in this.
