Notes | Made in wool 65% and 35% acryl. The preparation took most of my time. As the fabric is rather lightly woven, just some seam band would not hold any, so I cut wide strips in fusible interfacing to give it some sturdyness, did iron the upper back, upper front, the upper part of the sleeves, as it it was a tailor’s costume. I did enlengthen the skirt-part, as in the pattern given it is short -really short. Did not check the instructions, but went along as I was proceeding. Made the inset part in the skirt much wider. Made use of small vintage buttons (did not make any buttonholes, just sew these directly to the skirt part. The dress (rather a pinafore type of dress) is easy to make, just the right side part where the skirt meets the upper part was tricky in this vertically and horizontally line fabric. The print had to match at every angle. I did fully line the dress with lining, made a wide pleat in it at the front neckline. I did draw different facing, from the neckline to the upper buste and a large part of the back. The zipper was useless, as I could put it on without unzipping it, but as I had already created the zipper, I decided to leave it as it was. The hem is hand sewn. |
