Notes This is the best pattern I have ever made up in my whole life. I have made it about 8 times previously in plain red coloured cotton, yellow gingham, colourful georgette, Floral denim, Bali batik, the list goes on. It is quick to make and always seems to fit me, in spite of the fact I have put on weight.
This leopard print is rayon and so cool in our hot Australian climate.
I bought the fabric at Spotlight Taree on 50% off sale. It took me just three hours to make up from the time I laid out the fabric for cutting.
I never bother with the flap. I sewed it onto the first shirt and it annoyed me, so I decided to let the shirts be plain and show off great fabric instead.
I have narrowed the neckline on this shirt because I don't like getting sunburnt and sunscreens stain the natural fibres. I also cut the neck facings a bit wider so I could topstitch around the neck at about 2.5cm.
I bought myself a self threading Janome overlocker for a Christmas present and discovered that you can use 4 threads and gather the rounded parts of the hem so it sits really neatly when you hem it. Absolutely brilliant!
I love this pattern and I have now bought some beautiful linen to make up into this same style.
This shirt is just as comfy to wear as a knit shirt and probably cooler.
