| Notes | I made this dress for my law firm's Christmas party. I started last year but it lay around a bit, since there was no party last year due to Covid. I decided to finish it for this year but had lost about one size of weight so I had to amend it (a bit cluelessly, I must admit). This is also how the ruffled neckline happened, the shoulders just wouldn't fit anymore...but nobody seemed to notice that it was not on purpose. :) Otherwise, the pattern was nice to sew, once I figured out the flounces. The fabric is black summer sweat and glitter polyester lace (taken from an old skirt my mother-in-law donated for this project). I did not like the sleeves, though, they often fall much too wide, so I went freestyle and created this two-layer look with lace accents. I thought the tight sleeves made from thinner jersey had an air of these very elegant evening gloves that go up over the elbows... The cut is amazing, the flounces nicely cover a little food baby or winter belly but it still shows off my curves. I am very satisfied and got some really nice compliments from my colleagues. |
