Notes I LOVE this pattern! I made this skirt exactly as the pattern in calico, then made just a few modifications. I'm very happy with the fit and will use this as my blueprint for making other Lekala skirts. I wanted a skirt I can easily alter if I gain or lose weight - it usually only changes by 2-3cms in the waist. The elastic in the pattern runs from front dart to back dart each side, so the front is nice and flat. There was more excess fabric in the waist than I will need, so I decided to reduce that bulk.
Modifications:
1. I took 24cms off the length to make it knee length
2. I took the waist in by 1/2 inch each seam, total 2 inches removed, so now there is very little excess fabric but just enough for my minor weight fluctuations.
3. I added a centre back dart 3/8 of an inch where the zip is, making a total of 2 and 6/8 of an inch of fabric removed - a better fit for my sway back.
4. I added elastic from front dart to almost centre back to reduce bulk at side waist seams.
5. I straightened the side seam from waist to hip which is a better shape for me.
6. I used buttonhole elastic to make it easy to adjust, and buttoned the excess elastic back on itself. I don't feel that at my centre back.
A very comfortable skirt. Next I am going to make Lekala pattern 4723 - denim skirt with round pockets and 5268 panelled skirt using this skirt as my pattern.
