Notes This was my first Lekala pattern. Usually, I need to make a 1-inch FBA (full bust adjustment) on printed patterns, as well as adjustments to hips, waist, and large biceps. For Lekala 4456, I just entered my dimensions and made the garment as-is (no muslin, no fitting adjustments), which was a little scary. It worked great! The final product fit wonderfully; even the cap sleeve on my large biceps, which is a problem in other patterns, worked out great. The shaped (darted) silhouette has lots of ease, so can be worn loose or tucked in. Slightly curved yoke in front ... possible colorblocking options for future makes.

About the fabric: the textile gives the appearance of a wool gauze, but it is actually a polyester from the Hancock Fabrics clearance section. This would also look good in a sheer fabric, over a camisole. And, the aforementioned colorblocking.

About the construction: I followed the pattern, with two exceptions. One, I cut extra pieces for the front and back yoke, and layered them behind the lower bodice pieces -- in effect, lining the yoke on the interior. This is something I do for all my shirts with a yoke; I just like the look. Two, I sewed the faux pocket welts into the seam joining the yoke and bodice front -- so, three layers in that seam (bodice lower front, welt, front yoke. The pattern instructs you to apply the welt on top of the seam after you've sewn it, with topstitching, but I wanted the raw edge encased in the seam. I didn't topstitch the welt, but if it flaps up while I'm wearing the shirt, I can easily add that step.

Conclusion: Excellent fit, right out of the printer. Saves so much time -- no need to fit a muslin! The instructions are a little sparse, with no pictures, but that's not a problem for intermediate to advanced sewists who know how to put together a basic garment (but if you're reading this as a beginner, you might want to enlist the help of a knowledgeable friend). Layout, technical drawings, steps were 100% accurate. I will be making more Lekala outfits in the future, for sure!
